This week we held our first round of user testing. We were amazed by some of the creative ways in which people interacted and the positive responses we received. We also were able to pick up on some of the things we can improve upon and implement before our next round of testing next week.

The Friend Zone Project
Team Fuzz Baldrin was founded in the Spring of 2014 at California State University East Bay consisting of three multimedia graduate students. As the team explores new ground in technology they travel with only the stars and the winds to guide them. Instruction manuals do not exist in this uncharted territory. Team Fuzz Baldrin includes Nate Browne, Hugo Diaz and Miguel Rivas. #FBA

Feb. 1 - Feb. 11
Hugo has been coming up with some amazing artwork. The floor got setup, then rearranged. We discovered that our sensors do not play well with solder, so have had to improvise that. We did find some amazing 3-wire cold splices that are great for our project! At the moment, The floor is entirely wired, we are waiting on cold splices to arrive so we can finish and debug things. We are also close to being ready to get users for our first two levels. We also decided to cutback on the number of levels we are making and focus more on the gameplay. Our project looks into gameplay, so it was important that we reevaluated things and adapted.
January 2015
Miguel laid down the groundwork for level 2. Nate purchased a new vocal editing program. Hugo handled resolution issues. Sensors were purchased and have arrived. Optimal floor mats have been located, user testing is required before purchase. Miguel worked on level 2 things. Nate worked on audio and came up with a diagram for the floor. We got together and wrote down the script for Level 2 and the assets that it will require.
December 2014
In December, we were able to polish off our first level. It involves the users counting down and yelling blastoff to make the ship launch. Nate and Hugo provided original assets, while Miguel was able to tie things together with his programming wizardry. He was also able to lay the groundwork for level 2. We also had a fairly successful committee checkin and were able to lay out our plans for the upcoming quarter. The rest of the month was spent with our loved ones.
November 2014
Hey guys, sorry we haven't been the best about keeping this updated. Life happens when you're busy making plans, haha. The next couple of posts are intended to bring you guys up to speed, starting with November 2014.
Most of November was spent getting used to Lua/Love2D and sensor testing. We went through about 10 different pressure sensors before we found the one that we felt would be best for both the form and function of our project. Hugo delved into Sprites, and needless to say that we are pleased with his artistry. Miguel was able to figure out how to get Processing and Lua to play well together. We also did a survey which probed into people's associations with memes.

Early November Notes
Now that we're rolling into November, it seems like a good time to stop and take inventory of things. This week, Miguel is leading the way on learning to code in Lua. This is awesome because it is the foundation of our project and adds to our confidence going forward. Hugo has been working on getting a storyboard put together, and his results so far are pretty spectacular! It's one thing to be able to talk about it, and a whole other to be able to see and animated version of the script hashed out. Nate has been testing the new sensors and starting to look into different events and conferences that we may be interested in attending. Our thesis question is solid, and we feel good about our direction. We are still collecting a survey to see what kinds of attachments people have to memes, and how that would alter their experience in our project. Hope everyone is doing well, and keep checking back for more updates!
